Bristlecone Pine in San Diego

NatureMaker recently installed its newest work, “The Oldest Living Bristlecone Pine,” in the atrium of a private home in San Diego County. An exquisitely sculpted depiction of this ancient Western species, the tree is 15 feet high with the canopy of branches stretching 15 feet across. The intricate hand-carving, hand-painting, and scenic aging of the gnarled trunk and weathered limbs accurately reflect the struggle of bristlecone pines to grow in the harsh, high mountain climate and barren soil of the Sierras and Rocky Mountains.

15' Strangler fig with a 15' diameter canopy. This icon tree with its ancient aerial roots is planted in the center of the bustling coffee house/restaurant/retail store. The Great Oak Tree

Located in western Ohio, historic Sauder Village brims with the sounds, smells, sights, and stories of a century ago. The newly expanded Heritage Inn features "The Great Oak Tree", designed, engineered, and handcrafted by NatureMaker. The iconic tree represents the best of the area's majestic native specimen oaks. Conceived as a meeting point and the perfect blending of the outdoors brought inside, the creation of the tree took more than a year. Designed and engineered in hundreds of component parts, NatureMaker master artists installed the giant sculpture in a week.

Topiary Garden for Gardens Mall

As part of its ongoing expansion and upgrades, the Gardens Mall is also embellishing its public spaces with NatureMaker's arboreal art. A series of 16' tall spiral topiaries are integral elements of the main promenade of the center. The topiaries are fashioned out of steel; the distinctively shaped tree features delicate foliage that has been individually applied and manicured by NatureMaker artists.

Located near Denver, CO, the Wildlife Experience is an interactive museum that connects the community with wildlife and habitats, and teaches them how to have a positive effect on the environment. A Healing Oak for Iowa Methodist Medical Center

This regional hospital system is Central Iowa's most innovative and comprehensive health care provider. NatureMaker created a 10' oak with a 20' canopy diameter as a meditative element in the busy Younkers Powell Therapy Center. The tree, with its outstretched limbs reaching toward the sky, is a symbol of beauty and renewal for the patients.

A Banyan for Tootsie's Nightclub

NatureMaker's towering column clad banyan, reaching 25' toward the darkened, theatrically-lit ceiling, created a "natural" meeting spot for visitors of the busy sports bar. The 35' wide canopy adds a tropical flavor to the high tech bar. Materials used to create the viney, banyan bark and root texture were designed to appeal to all senses, especially touch, in a highly durable medium.

Tree of Hope

A recently opened exhibit at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis showcases a walk-through chestnut tree at the entrance. The hand-sculpted, ancient weathered trunk, equipped with computers and monitors, includes two large lighted openings. Aptly named the "Tree of Hope," the tree is an integral part of the educational and exploratory environment. Students leave personal messages at the tree with their pledges to build a better world. We have included the teachers letter and the students pledges below:

"Hello. My name is Andrea. I am a student teacher at UPUI. I am student teaching at Winchester Village Elementary School in Perry Township in 3rd Grade. My co-teaching partner, Jibrea, and I attended the Educator*s Night last week about the exhibit 'The Power of Children.' We wanted our students to learn what we learned while at the Children's Museum. The next morning, we talked about each child with our students. None of our students knew who the children were so we talked about each child and the difference they made. We started thinking how we could make a difference. We came up with making our own 'Tree of Promise.' On each leaf is one of our students promises that they made. We just thought you would like to hear how your Educator's Night has made an impact on a 3rd grade classroom. Also listed below are the promises written on the leaves of each our students and ourselves. Thank you for your time."

Sincerely, Andrea and Jibrea
